AI Page View

AI Page View shows your page the way an AI crawler reads it. It fetches your raw HTML, converts it to clean text and Markdown, and shows the headings, tables, word count and token count that remain. If your page relies on JavaScript to display its content, AI Page View flags it — because many AI crawlers read the HTML your server sends and don’t run your scripts.

What Is an AI Page View?

An AI page view is a text-only rendering of a page based on the HTML your server returns, without executing JavaScript. It strips navigation chrome, scripts and styling and keeps the content an AI system can extract: headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and links. It answers a simple question: if an AI crawler fetched this URL, what would it actually get?

Why AI Crawlers May Not See What You See

Your browser downloads HTML, then runs JavaScript that builds the page. A site built as a single-page app can send an almost empty HTML shell and fill it in afterwards. Googlebot has a rendering service that runs JavaScript. Studies of AI crawler behavior have reported that many AI crawlers — including those from major AI companies — fetch HTML but do not execute JavaScript. If your content only exists after scripts run, those crawlers see a blank page. (Write this in the hedged form shown. See VERIFY note at the bottom before publishing the specific claim.)

How Does AI Page View Work?

  1. Fetch the URL’s raw HTML (no JavaScript executed).
  2. Clean it — remove scripts, styles, navigation, footers and hidden elements.
  3. Convert the remaining main content to Markdown.
  4. Measure word count and an estimated token count.
  5. Flag pages whose visible text is very small compared with their script weight, or whose body is an empty app container.

What Does AI Page View Show?

Clean text and Markdown. The content an AI can extract, with structure preserved.

Headings. The H1–H6 outline as the crawler reads it (for a deeper heading audit, use the Heading Structure Checker).

Tables. Whether your tables survived as real table markup — tables rendered with JavaScript or images disappear.

Word count and token estimate. Words of main content, plus an approximate token count. Tokens are the units language models read; as a rough rule, English text averages about four characters per token, so the figure is an estimate, not model-specific.

JavaScript-only warning. Triggered when main content is missing or tiny in the raw HTML, the body is an empty container such as <div id=”root”> or <div id=”__next”>, or a <noscript> message asks the visitor to enable JavaScript.

Do AI Crawlers Render JavaScript?

Treat “most do not” as the safe working assumption. Google’s crawler renders JavaScript; reports on other AI crawlers have found they mostly read raw HTML. Because crawler behavior changes, the reliable fix is not to depend on it: make sure your important content is present in the HTML the server returns.

How to Read Your Results

  • Healthy page: clean text is close to what you see in the browser; headings and tables present.
  • Thin content: clean text is far shorter than the visible page. Look for content loaded by scripts, tabs, accordions or “load more”.
  • Empty or JS-only: a tiny word count plus the warning. AI crawlers likely see nothing.

How to Fix a Page AI Can’t Read

  • Server-side rendering (SSR) — the server returns finished HTML (Next.js, Nuxt, Remix, SvelteKit support this).
  • Static site generation (SSG) — pages are built to HTML ahead of time; ideal for marketing and blog content.
  • Pre-rendering — serve a rendered HTML snapshot for pages that can’t move to SSR.
  • Move key text out of widgets — put definitions, prices, specs and FAQs in plain HTML rather than scripts.

After fixing, run AI Page View again and compare word counts.

AI Page View for SEO, GEO, AEO and LLMO

  • SEO: content missing from raw HTML can delay or weaken indexing for non-rendering crawlers and previews.
  • GEO: generative engines can only cite text they can read.
  • AEO: answer extraction needs the answer to exist in the HTML.
  • LLMO: models learn about your brand from text they actually receive.

Limits of This Tool

AI Page View fetches HTML like a simple crawler. It does not run JavaScript, log in, or solve bot challenges, and it cannot see content behind forms or paywalls. It does not predict whether any AI system will use your content. Token counts are estimates. If AI Page View shows less content than your browser, that gap is the thing to investigate — not necessarily an error in the tool.

FAQ

  1. What does an AI crawler see on my page?

It typically sees the HTML your server returns: headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and links. Content that only appears after JavaScript runs may not be visible. AI Page View shows that raw-HTML version as clean text.

  1. How do I check if my page is visible to AI?

Enter the URL in AI Page View. If the clean text, headings and tables match what you see in the browser, the content is in your HTML. If the text is missing or the tool shows a JavaScript-only warning, AI crawlers may see little or nothing.

  1. Do AI crawlers render JavaScript?

Googlebot does. Reports on other AI crawlers have found that many fetch HTML without executing JavaScript, so the safe approach is to put important content in the server-returned HTML.

  1. Is my React or Next.js site invisible to AI?

Not necessarily. Server-side rendered or statically generated pages deliver full HTML. Pages that depend entirely on client-side rendering are the risk. Run AI Page View to see.

  1. What is a token?

A token is a chunk of text a language model reads — roughly four characters of English on average. AI Page View shows an estimated token count so you can see how much content a model would have to process.

  1. Why is my AI Page View word count lower than my browser’s?

Usually because part of the content is loaded by JavaScript, hidden in tabs or accordions, or rendered inside images or iframes.

  1. Does a good AI Page View result guarantee AI citations?

No. It shows your content is readable. Whether AI systems cite you depends on quality, relevance and authority.

  1. Can I use AI Page View to convert HTML to Markdown?

It shows your page’s main content as Markdown, which is useful for checking structure. It is a diagnostic view, not a full-site converter.

  1. How is this different from the Heading Structure Checker?

The Heading Structure Checker audits heading hierarchy. AI Page View shows everything an AI can extract — text, tables, counts — and warns when content is missing from the HTML.
